Pre - Interview

Prior to your interview, there is some essential reading necessary to learn about the context in which our organization exists. This information is essential for all prospective, current and future volunteers, and is considered required reading. We operate on the basis that all volunteers have a full understanding of the core essentials about the issue, organization, cause and relevant background necessary to operate as a volunteer, advocate and representative. Below is linked the essential readings:

Post - Interview
After the interview, the following steps occur for each volunteer:

-
The applicant receives a follow-up email that includes the standard volunteer non-disclosure agreement and liability waiver, if given the offer to volunteer.
-
Once the applicant reviews, signs and returns the NDA and liability waiver, their Google Workspace account is created and an email sent to their personal email account with a link to create a password for their new account and login.
-
Upon sign-in to their new volunteer account, the volunteer should find an email invitation to the Right to Live organization Slack in their volunteer account. Following this link will allow them to sign up for Slack and join the organizations Slack server.

Onboarding
Upon joining the organizations Slack, they will be instructed to follow the steps in the #onboarding channel. This includes, but is not limited to:

-
Updating their title in their Slack profile to be the same as their volunteer role
-
Uploading a business-appropriate headshot to their Slack profile
-
Updating the 'Notification Muting Schedule' in their Slack preferences to ensure that Slack is not muting notifications during their intended work schedule as it hinders office communication.

Some optional but suggested further reading is also in the Slack #onboarding, which consists of:
-
'Bridging the Gaps – Legislative and practice problems in Canada’s MAiD regime'
-
'Private forums show Canadian doctors struggle with euthanizing vulnerable patients'
