      Founded in early 2023, Right to Live is a nationally registered non-profit organization. We are currently entirely volunteer-based with over forty active volunteers and growing. Blending awareness, fundraising, and direct action, we aim for both powerful impact and rapid growth. ​

Our Mission

​

      Right to Live's mission is to create a solution to systemic poverty-driven euthanasia amongst Canadians with Disabilities. Our planned 'Right to Live' Program represents Canada’s first emergency support for individuals with disabilities who are actively pursuing Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) with poverty as the primary motivating factor. The program’s objective is to provide critical, case-by-case financial support to alleviate their suffering, thereby offering them an alternative to continuing with the MAiD process. This would equip MAiD assessors with the critically missing external resource to refer, enabling them to provide a viable alternative to euthanasia rather than give approval due to absence of one. By filling this gap in the euthanasia system, we will enable the assessor system to properly function as the safeguard within the MAiD program as originally designed, restore choice by eliminating poverty as a factor and affirm life as a viable option.
